Marissa

Veterinary Technician

Marissa is a Veterinary Technician at the Viera location who brings a lifelong passion for animals and a strong background in zoology and physiology to her role. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wyoming in 2024, with a focus in Zoology and Physiology. She also received a Certificate of Achievement from her previous clinic for her efficiency and dedication as a skill builder.

Marissa’s passion for veterinary medicine began at a young age, inspired in part by her grandmother’s love of elephants and the encouragement of her parents. She started her professional journey as a Veterinary Assistant in Wyoming before moving to Florida to continue pursuing her goal of becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician. She is excited to expand her knowledge, strengthen her skills, and contribute to the health and well-being of animals of all kinds.

The most rewarding part of Marissa’s career is helping animals feel better and seeing them recover. She also values supporting pet owners and providing reassurance during what can be stressful situations. For Marissa, knowing she can make pets more comfortable while giving their families peace of mind makes her work especially meaningful.

Outside of the hospital, Marissa enjoys gaming, reading, visiting the beach, walking her dogs, exploring Disney and Universal, and spending time with her family. She shares her home with two rescued dogs, Benny Blanco, a Collie/Lab mix, and Nala Bears, a Blue Nose Pit Bull. She is especially proud of earning her bachelor’s degree, becoming a Veterinary Assistant shortly after graduation, and making the move to Florida to continue growing in her veterinary career. Marissa is excited to be part of the team and looks forward to learning new skills along the way.

When she’s relaxing with a good book, Marissa enjoys the A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series, and she can always enjoy a great Spanish meal.
