Nykki Valentine

Veterinary Technician

Nykki is a Veterinary Technician at the Merritt Island location who brings a unique background in zoology and exotic animal care to the veterinary field. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Zoology from the University of Central Florida and received specialized training in exotic megafauna hoof trims and shoeing through Brevard Zoo.

Nykki’s journey into veterinary medicine began as an apprentice Africa keeper at Brevard Zoo. During her time there, she had the opportunity to participate in breeding exports, neonatal exams, blood draws, medication administration, animal training, hoof trims, and many other aspects of animal care. Working closely with the zoo’s veterinary team sparked her interest in veterinary medicine and allowed her to develop a deeper appreciation for the science and specialized care involved in keeping animals healthy. She quickly fell in love with contributing to animal welfare and knew she wanted to continue making a difference through veterinary medicine.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Nykki’s career is providing families with an excellent standard of care for their beloved pets. She is especially proud of her previous work contributing to the repopulation of endangered animal species.

Outside of work, Nykki enjoys reading, woodworking, 3D printing, and interior design. She shares her life with her fiancé, Adam, and their pet family of six, including Bagel, their Golden Retriever, and four cats. Among the things she loves most are her fiancé, her dog, and the classic novel Wuthering Heights.
